OGHAM WHISKEY SELLS OUT FIRST LIMITED RELEASE IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS
Irish Rugby Stars Adam and Dan Leavy launched Ogham Ogham Whiskey this week along with father Donal and friend Doug Leddin.
Dublin. May 19th, 2023 – Ogham Whiskey, which was launched earlier this week by Irish rugby stars Adam and Dan Leavy has sold out its first limited release of 1094 bottles in less than 24 hours.
The Single Malt was only made available for sale on its website 10am on Thursday with the final bottle being sold at 9am the following morning.
The launch marked a culmination of a 4-year journey which began when the Leavy family looked to explore the possibility of developing a distillery on their family farm in Mullingar which led them to reach out to industry veteran Doug Leddin.
Following Dan’s retirement from professional rugby the group decided to progress the idea and dip their toes into the market before investing heavily in planning and equipment.
Among the finer details of the bottle are some personal touches which reference those involved such as a 7-year age statement to reflect Dan’s number when he played for Ireland and Leinster and Adam’s time with the Ireland 7s team.
In addition, the back of the bottle is adorned with the ogham spelling of DL which are the initials of three of the four founders while the words “Pride”, “Family”, “Éire” also feature.
Speaking of the sale, Dan said
“We are absolutely overwhelmed by the tremendous support and affection we received for Ogham and our inaugural release. We are thrilled to have sold out in less than 24 hours and want to thank all our friends and family and the Irish whiskey community for all their encouragement from the very beginning. This is only the start for Ogham so watch this space.”
Ogham Whiskey’s first expression is a 7 year old Single Malt Irish Whiskey which was laid down by Great Northern Distillery in the same year that Dan made his Debut for Ireland and finished in a Madeira cask. Through the help of PPI Group and GSB we have sourced and finished this beautiful liquid and bottled it at 47.23%.
Its bottle has been designed by award winning design agency Third Mind Design in Blackrock, Dublin. The team have gone through 23 (reasoning behind the 47.23%) different
variations of bottle designs, concepts, moulds and drawings to arrive at the final product.
