Bushmills 10 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey
With a heritage rooted in authenticity and quality, Bushmills Irish Whiskey is produced, aged and bottled at Ireland’s oldest working distillery in the village of Bushmills in County Antrim on the far north coast of Ireland. The Old Bushmills Distillery uses 100% malt barley to make triple distilled malt whiskey, which is what creates the rich, mellow and distinct flavour that is the house style. Bushmills Malt 10 Year Old or “Green Bush” introduced in 1987, was the first of the 100% single malts in the Bushmills stable‚ and one that will leave you with an exceptionally smooth finish. The distinctive Bushmills light fruity aroma travels over the lip of your tumbler to deliver 10 years of maturation from bourbon seasoned barrels. That old Kentucky spirit becomes melted chocolate and honey that sits on the tongue and‚ for me‚ slightly dries the back of the throat.
Stuart’s Irish Whiskey Pooka Scale Rating for Bushmills 10 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey
Stuart Says:
Bushmills Malt or Green Bush is the first of Bushmills stable of 100% Single Malt Irish Whiskeys. This whiskey really defines a 2 Pooka Special Irish Whiskey. It costs just a little bit more than a One Pooka entry level whiskey but boy is it worth it. Here, you are firmly entering the world of special Irish Whiskey. My suggestion is to leave the ice and mixers alone for this one. Pour a measure and savour the nose and take a small sip neat before adding a dash or two of tap water to open up the lovely smooth aromas and taste.
Bushmills Malt, along with Black Bush is one of my own Dad’s favourite Irish Whiskeys and he is the person who taught me much of my early Irish Whiskey knowledge. Twice a year (March and August) I return home to West Cork in Ireland bearing a Bushmills expression of one form or another for our regular bi-annual celebration.
Green Bush or Bush Malt is 100% Single Malt Irish Whiskey which has been aged in old Kentucky Bourbon barrels for 10 years. I’ve rated it as a 2 Pooka Whiskey because of its quality and status as a classic Irish whiskey. Drink it neat or with a splash or two of water in a nice heavy whiskey tumbler rather than waste it by adding ice or mixers.
